Announcing a New and Exciting Partnership!
Homeis is a new app that connects immigrants with people and companies for help and advice, giving individuals and families a warm sense of community in a new country. The homeis app offers users a wealth of resources including professional immigration advice, resume building tips, news and so much more. Founded in 2017, homeis launched its first South Asian community in August 2020, which received more than 15,000 app downloads in just the first 2 weeks.
Canada is known to be a nation of immigrants. But one province in the country attracts more new arrivals than anywhere else. That province is Ontario. Immigrants have become the backbone of this country and while these individuals and families are learning to adapt to the Canadian way of life, many of them are struggling. Struggling with finding an adequate job, struggling with learning a new language, struggling with the weather, and struggling to find a family physician.
Moving abroad is never easy and amidst the pandemic we can imagine the new struggles immigrants must be facing including adapting to ways of keeping themselves and their family members safe from the virus. The pandemic paired with Ontario’s long wait times for a medical appointment made the Meira Care and homeis partnership a perfect fit. Despite the fast-growing number of doctors in Canada, there appears to be a mismatch between family physicians and patients desperate for one. Approximately one million Ontarians do not have a family doctor. Moreover, patients can expect to wait several days to speak with a Telehealth nurse due to the influx of COVID-19 related calls.
“The Ministry of Health told CBC News the current average wait time for COVID-19 related calls is approximately 23 hours, while the average wait time for other inquiries is about 60 hours, or two-and-a-half days.”
With Meira Care’s virtual healthcare services, The South Asian Ontario homeis community can now conveniently connect with Ontario licensed physicians by phone or video call 7-days a week from the safety of their homes to discuss any health concern (including COVID-19 Screening / Counselling, Anxiety Counselling, and Mental Health Support). Patients no longer have to worry about finding a family physician or having to wait days to have their health concern addressed.
With same day appointment availability in literally 15 minutes or less, homeis users can request lab requisitions and results, prescriptions, specialist referrals and so much more all from their fingertips, making this true on-demand healthcare.
