I have an expired OHIP card. Can I still be seen?
Yes. At Meira Care we can still see you if you have an expired OHIP card. The system unfortunately will not be able to accept your expired health card information; however, you can call or text 877-251-0077 to book your appointment.

I missed a call from your virtual care clinic regarding my results. When will I receive a call back?
Our healthcare provider will make a second attempt the same day before we close if time permits, or your call will be returned the next day. Please feel free to message us on our website using the online chat feature to follow up and we would be happy to assist you.

I booked an appointment, but I have not received a call yet. When will the healthcare provider call?
Our healthcare provider may be delayed with patients booked before you. We kindly ask that you be patient while the healthcare provider works through patient concerns. Please feel free to message us on our website using the online chat feature to follow up and we would be happy to assist you.

My pharmacy didn’t receive a fax of my prescription from your clinic. When is it normally faxed?
Our patient care team will fax the prescription to your pharmacy as soon as the appointment is completed. Your pharmacy may have received the fax but have yet to take care of it.

I didn’t receive my requisition in my email. What do I do?
Please remember to check your junk, spam, or promotions folder. If you still have not received your requisition, please call 877-251-0077 or feel free to message us on our website using the online chat feature to follow up and we would be happy to assist you.

How does Meira Care work?
To begin, register with Meira Care and provide your demographics and health card number. Select your date and time of the visit. Our team will send you an email confirmation of your appointment. You will then connect with a provider and discuss your healthcare concern.

When should I use Meira Care?
You should use Meira care if you require non-urgent care that does not require you to visit a hospital. You can also use our services if you are a busy individual and want to see a Medical Provider on the go – who is looking to avoid the long wait times at the clinic and hospital waiting rooms. If you have chest pain or shortness of breath, please call 911 or visit your nearest hospital immediately.

Is my information secure?
Yes, all your personal and medical information will only be used by Meira Care Medical Providers and administrators. We encrypt all data using bank-level, modern state-of-the-art security to keep your personal information safe and secure.

How do I contact support?

What are the requirements for a virtual visit?
You will need a mobile phone, computer or tablet which has access to the internet. You will also need a valid email address to confirm your appointment details. Before your appointment, you will be emailed a link to join the video-call with your Medical Provider. If you have booked a telephone visit, the Medical Provider will call you within 15-minutes of your appointment time.

Is virtual care recognized in Canada?
Yes, virtual care is a new era of healthcare and is encouraged in times of a pandemic to avoid additional exposure to infections. Our licensed Medical Providers use their extensive knowledge, training, and assessment techniques to treat patients online through audio, video, and chat consultations.

Is Meira Care looking for Healthcare Providers?

What happens if the video or audio call drops?
The healthcare professional will end the current session and will contact you via the telephone number in your profile and advise how to proceed forward.

How does the quality of virtual care compare to an in-person visit?
The quality of care is the same as an in-person visit. Our virtual doctors can assess, diagnose, and treat many conditions online and provide prescriptions, lab requisitions and results, work/school notes, specialist referrals and more from the comfort of your home.

What are the methods of payment for uninsured services or out of Ontario patients?
Payment is only required for uninsured services, which include medical notes for work and school, certain forms and referrals. Payment is also required for out of Ontario patients looking to get care from our Medical Providers. All major credit cards are accepted for forms of payment. We do not accept cash or cheques.

Is Meira Care free?
Yes, our services are free for all Ontario residents with a valid OHIP card. Our affiliated pharmacies accept various insurance and drug plans for prescription coverage. There may be a charge for uninsured services, which include medical notes for work and school, forms and certain referrals.

When can I speak to an online doctor?
Once you have completed the online or phone registration, you can select a convenient time to have your appointment with the Medical Provider. We are open 7-days a week from 8am to 9pm Eastern Standard Time.

How do I cancel my appointment?
To cancel your appointment, you must email support@meiracare.com with your first name, last name and time of your appointment.

How long are the wait times?
Our Medical Providers will connect with you within 15-minutes of your appointment time. If a longer appointment time is required, a member of our team will call you to set up a time where the Medical Provider can dedicate time to address your healthcare concerns.

Can I see the same virtual doctor for each visit?
Yes, you can. Continuity of care is at the heart of our virtual medical clinic. Meira Care offers a continuous caring relationship between patient and provider through our Ontario virtual clinic and through our province-wide network of affiliated medical clinics and healthcare providers.

Can I renew my prescription online?
Yes, our Medical Providers can provide online prescriptions and prescription refills from the comfort of your home. After your consultation, if the Healthcare Provider deems it to be safe and medically appropriate, a prescription will be electronically sent to your pharmacy of choice for easy counter pick-up or free delivery right to your door. We do not prescribe controlled substances, addictive substances or sleeping aids.

Do you offer mental health support services?
Yes, Meira Care’s Healthcare Providers are highly trained and qualified to provide mental health support. We can also refer you to a local Mental Health Specialist, if needed, for further assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.

Can I get a medical note for work or school?
Yes, our Medical Providers are happy to provide you with a digital medical note for work or school, if necessary.

Can I contact Meira Care if I am experiencing a medical emergency?
Meira Care is not intended for emergency care. If you are experiencing symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, altered state of consciousness or any injury requiring immediate attention, please call 9-1-1 or proceed to the nearest hospital.
